Col du Pre

Alpine Cadence : Supported rides for cyclists in the Alps
Col du Pre is a magnificent and challenging alternative to the standard Cormet de Roselend climb from Beaufort. The climb starts immediately on leaving Beaufort towards Areches with a flat section just before arrival in Areches. Although 13km in total it's the 8km from Areches to the top that you'll remember! The average gradient for this section is around 8.5% with plenty of
steeper ramps to keep you hurting. It's a narrow quiet road with lots of hairpins. It's sheltered from the wind and get get very warm. The views of Mont Blanc as you near the summit are truly spectacular and the final 500m to the summit of the climb is actually very flat. Just over the top is a convenient restaurant with wonderful views over the Lac du Roselend.
