Alpine Workshop

Alpine Cadence : Supported rides for cyclists in the Alps

13-17 May 2015

Our Alpine Workshops are a great way to enjoy great riding and learn at the same time. Spectacular guided rides in the day under the watchful eye of a qualified coach. Evening lectures to inform and improve performance. The perfect combination for the keen rider wishing to get better. This year's Alpine Workshop will be based on the banks of Lake Annecy, a wonderful environment for early season riding.

The schedule

Wednesday May 13
Arrive Geneva airport (aim to book a flight arriving between 1300 and 1600). Collection by minibus and return to the hotel near Annecy (transfer time 50 minutes). Make up bikes, briefing, dinner

Thursday May 14 - Saturday May 16
These days will involve rides of 90-120km and between 1500m and 2500m  of climbing. There will be longer and shorter ride options each day.  A typical day will involve a ride start at around 9am. In the saddle for 4-5 hours with breaks on top. The exact itinerary will be dependant on weather and rider levels. Climbs that are likely to be on the agenda will be Col des Saisies, Col des Aravis, Le Semnoz, Col de la Forclaz and Col de la Colombiere. Each day's riding will be followed by an optional massage (additional cost) followed by a review/lecture on different subjects each day. These will include such areas as climbing/descending techniques, training plans, tactics, bike set up and mental approaches to improving performance. The centre based nature of this camp lends itself well to a great deal of flexibility. Riders can easily elect to do more or less than our proposed rides.

Sunday May 17
The Sunday will also involve a substantial ride of up to 100km followed by an earlier return to base at around 1pm to pack and prepare for your return. Departure from the hotel will be at around 1500 to catch flights out of Geneva from 1800 onwards.

Who is this trip aimed at?

This trip will suit all rider levels. This trip is ideal for anyone who wants to ride the Alps but has not done so before. A rider who perhaps aspires to one of our bigger trips might use this as an entry point to gauge their fitness, moving onto bigger things the following year/trip. Stronger riders will enjoy this trip too, especially as a training block for events to follow later in the season.

Non riding friends and partners are welcome on this trip. Annecy is a beautiful city to visit and we can offer reduced rates to non riders on the trip.
